Agora options Warner book
Agora Films International Inc. has optioned the just released book Emperor of the East Slope by John Warner.
Emperor of the East Slope is the story of Tom Edmunds, a Canadian immigrant returning to Alberta, wounded during the First World War, who finds himself jilted by the love of his life. His drive to succeed renewed, he founds a family business empire against the backdrop of early 20th century Alberta. From the death and suffering on the battlefields of Europe in two wars, to family rivalry and bitter feuding with enemies, the eventual success of the members of the Edmunds family is steeped in the Province’s history. Warner has just completed a sequel that Agora Films will acquire.
This is the second book by an Albertan that Agora Films had undertaken to produce.
The children’s book The Alberta Time Travel Adventures of Family Day Ray, Roxy & Jasper written along with song lyrics by Rob Lennard was a best seller in the Alberta 2005 centennial year. It is now being translated into French. The book is action packed with adventure, fun and with seven historical themed songs on CD. It has received great reviews by historians and teachers.
“The acquisition of these two Alberta books is our commitment to promote and showcase our local writers,” said Agora Films president Edmund A. Oliverio. Agora Films has Espionage on the Hill, a Canadian history event as a four-hour MOW underway this year as well as three documentaries that will begin production this summer – Extreme Trek, Spies and Scribes and The World of the Working Horse.
